Worship Music – are worship lyrics too loving for manly men (blokey blokes)?

Are the lyrics we sing too loving and romantic for new Christian men who are not used to singing such lyrics to God? Matt Redman weighs in with our friends from PremierTV, talking about worship music in the Church.

Great thoughts here. Well, I think the only thing that can follow that is a non-romantic sounding song from Matt Redman. This is “Nothing But The Blood” with some Slovak titles incase any of our Slovak friends out there would like to follow along. I’ll dedicate this post to my brother who was raised with his Slovak grandparents and knows a bit of the language himself.  This is a very cool taping and great song.

Enjoy and Worship Well!

    Great post.

As a Worship Leader in Texas, this topic has come up on more than one occasion.

For example, for many men, isn’t it altogether awkward to consider that we are part of the Bride of Christ? Obviously, women are better suited to capture that whole concept and imagery, right?

I believe this may be one of the greatest challenges for men in worship. How do I relate to God? How do I respond to God? As a “bride?”

While men may grasp this theological concept, it’s perhaps the practical expression of worship that can be perplexing for men.

Do our praise and worship lyrics and songs reflect an emasculated church?

It’s a good question and a worthwhile discussion.
